1. Get the teacher-approved list. Many teachers send lists that specify the items they want their students to have. Buy school supplies that are non themed for even more savings. Often supplies are shared and your child may not even get to keep the supplies you bought the. Themed back packs and lunch bags/boxes are really the only themed item you can guarantee your child will keep. I always let mine pick out their own themed back pack and lunch bag.
2. Take advantage of price matching. Some retailers offer to match lower prices you find elsewhere; Staples is offering a 110 percent guarantee (accurate at time of posting), which means customers get an additional 10 percent off the price, during the back-to-school shopping season. Price-matching programs can help take some of the pressure off parents to run around to different stories. This saves time and gas and is just easier! I just start saving the weekly paper before I plan to shop. Call ahead and see which locations in your area do this!
3. Mail in those rebates.
4. Take advantage of gift card sites. Sites like GiftCards.com make it easy you can save up to ten percent on gift cards for stores you use.
5. Take advantage of tax-free holidays.
6. Wait to buy clothes. Some of the best deals are on off season clothing. Buy when the season is out and put up for the next year. Most will still be in style bt at a huge discount!
